The formula used
Every item is converted to dinars before being added. The purchase price is multiplied by the rate actually applied when the money was transferred, not today's rate. When the car travels in a shared container, its share of the container is added to freight.
Landed cost (DA) = purchase price × exchange rate
+ freight and transport
+ customs and duties
+ port charges
+ other costsHow the container share is calculated
Share per car = (container rent + shared fees − amount for places sold to other dealers) ÷ number of your cars in the container. Example: (600,000 + 60,000 − 150,000) ÷ 3 = 170,000 DA per car.
What this calculator does not do
It does not calculate customs duties: they depend on the vehicle and the regulations in force. Ask your customs broker or Algerian customs for the amount, then enter it. The result is an estimate, not tax advice.
Frequently asked questions
- Which exchange rate should I enter?
- The rate actually applied when the money for this car was transferred. That is the dinar amount you paid, and it is what sets the landed cost.
- Does the calculator give the customs amount?
- No. Duties and taxes depend on the vehicle and the regulations in force; ask your customs broker for the exact amount and enter it in the "Customs and duties" field.
- Why enter amounts in millions?
- Because it is the unit Algerian showrooms use: 1 million = 10,000 DA. The calculator accepts both units and shows the result in dinars and in millions.
- Are my figures saved?
- No. The calculation runs entirely in your browser. To keep each car's cost and track your imports, use Showroom213 (Pro and Business plans).
