Sharing a car container between dealers
Two possible roles
| Renter | Guest | |
|---|---|---|
| Who rents the container | You | Another dealer |
| What you pay | Rent and shared fees | The agreed price of your places |
| What you collect | The price of places sold to others | — |
| Cost per car | Calculated after deducting places sold | The price of your place |
In Showroom213 you choose the role when creating the container: "I rent this container" or "I'm a guest".
Selling places to other dealers
For each place sold, record:
- the dealer and their phone number;
- the car and its VIN;
- the number of places and the agreed price;
- the amount already received.
Each payment is recorded as it comes in; the place shows as paid or unpaid, with an alert if a dealer pays more than agreed. A place map shows your cars, the places sold and the places still free.
Calculating each car's share
Share per car = (rent + shared fees − price of places sold)
÷ number of your non-cancelled cars
Example: rent 600,000 DA, shared fees 60,000 DA, one place sold for 150,000 DA, 3 of your cars: (600,000 + 60,000 − 150,000) ÷ 3 = 170,000 DA per car. Showroom213 writes this share into each car's freight, which adds to its landed cost.
If the places sold cover more than the rent and fees, your cars' share drops to zero and Showroom213 shows the gain on the trip.
Filling the container without mistakes
- Cars can only join the container while it is loading.
- Boarding closes automatically when every place is taken.
- The container number is checked (ISO 6346 check digit) and the shipping line recognised.
- You can add every car awaiting shipment in one go.
Closing
When every car has left the port, Showroom213 suggests closing the container. A checklist appears, then the shares are frozen: each car's landed cost no longer moves. Other dealers' payments can still be recorded after closing.
To track the container to the port, read Tracking car import containers.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I price a place in my container?
- Start from the container's total cost (rent and shared fees) divided by the number of places, then adjust to demand. If the places you sell bring in more than the container costs, Showroom213 shows your gain on the trip.
- What if another dealer doesn't pay for their place?
- The place stays marked unpaid with the amount still due. You can record their payments at any time, even after the container is closed.
- Is container sharing available on the Starter plan?
- No. Container management, sharing included, comes with the Pro and Business plans.
